| Vermont 17: at VT 125 road closed to traffic, bridge closed -- follow the detour signs Comment: The New York Department of Transportation & Vermont Agency of Transportation have closed the Crown Point Bridge that connects Vermont Route 17 in Addison with New York State over the lower portion of Lake Champlain. The bridge has been closed since 10/16/09 and underwent demolition on 12/28/09. Motorist should use alternate routes such as Route 4 West to NY or available ferry Service. Free 24/7 Ferry Service is now available connecting Vermont & New York at the site of the former Champlain Bridge. Ferry service at the Charlotte, VT/Essex, NY crossing off Route 7 in Charlotte will suspend service after 02-03-10 until Spring due to ice conditions.
